Our Story

We are building a hand health program for women like you.

Why we are building this

Our work didn't start in a lab. It started at a kitchen table, watching someone struggle with things that used to be automatic. Myogen's founder watched his mother, a retired pediatrician, lose the kind of hand strength most of us never think about until it's gone.

Her weakness crept in slowly

Spice jars she couldn't pop open anymore. Pill bottles and organizers became adversaries. Writing got harder to finish, and harder to read back. Phones became heavy after just a few minutes. Even ordinary things (pinning up washing, making a bed, pulling a lid off a yoghurt tub) had quietly become small daily fights.

None of this was dramatic. That was almost the hardest part. It crept in slowly enough that it just became normal, something to work around rather than something to fix.

Addressing the gap

Watching it happen up close is what turned this from something the founder found interesting into something he needed to solve. He already had a decade of background in medical devices, and that gave him the confidence to actually dig into it properly, rather than assume there was nothing to be done.

He found there wasn't much of a good answer out there, and that even her own clinicians tended to treat it as unremarkable, just something that happens with age, not a problem worth solving directly. That gap, between how much she was clearly struggling and how little anyone seemed to be doing about it, is what became Myogen Health.

Somewhere in that process, it stopped being just research. He and his mother started talking regularly about her hands and symptoms more directly: what was hard, what she'd tried before, what actually helped even a little. Over time, that turned into the two of them trying things together, looking for whatever might support her hand strength and function.

Why we're hopeful

An older woman and a younger man embracing and laughing together in a kitchen.

A few months into the exploration, things began to change, and surprisingly, she wasn't even the first to notice. She'd begun doing things that had been out of reach for years, some of them for over a decade. By the time others pointed it out, her daily frustrations had already started fading, and her days felt easier.

It confirmed what they'd hoped: weak hands and daily struggles aren't inevitable. The problem has gone overlooked and uncared for, but there are real things you can do to improve. But what needed to be built wasn't one particular thing, it was a company focused on hand health, on getting people the best information and the best solutions. That is what we set out to do with Myogen Health.

You don't have to accept it

Here's the part that matters: for most people, this kind of decline doesn't have to continue, and it isn't something you just have to live with. Progressive, targeted strength work is consistently identified as an effective way to slow, stabilize, or even partially rebuild hand strength, at almost any age.

You don't need to wait for anyone to start taking your hand health seriously though. Simple daily exercises, done consistently, can make a real difference.

Where we are now

We're still building. The HMES One and the accompanying exercise program are in development, going through the process of being designed and tested to real medical standards — not rushed, and not yet available for sale.

In the meantime, there are two things you can do:
